I had heard that there are companies out there that help you buy overseas property over the internet. I was very curious about this, since my business partner wanted to possibly open a second company in New Zealand sometime in the near future. I figured that if we knew what it would cost to rent or even buy a building there, then we would know what to expect when the time came to move forward with our plans. My partner had chosen New Zealand because he was born and raised there before his parents moved him to here when he was seventeen.

He was sure that with the contacts he still had, that he would be successful with having a sister company located in his birth country. I started pricing renting vs. buying in a few of the cities that he wanted to look at. It seemed that our overseas property was not going to cost us as much as the current building we were in. I told him that maybe we should go ahead and buy a building and then have it slowly renovated over the next few years, so that it would be completely ready to move into, when we decided to move forward. That was four years ago and our New Zealand office has been up and running for six months now, and is thriving.
